Ormsby Mitchel was a Major General during the Civil War, and this was his home. He is also the founder of the Cincinnati Observatory which was America's first public observatory. His observation work of the planet Mars has two discoveries named after him (The Mountains of Mitchel on the Mars south pole and the Mitchel crater are named in his honor). The cities of Fort Mitchell Kentucky, Mitchell Indiana, and Mitchelville South Carolina are also named after him.
This updated historic home was built in 1814 and is in the heart of downtown Lebanon. Local shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
