Our home sits atop the mesa in Rimrock, Arizona, and we’re happy to share this special place when we’re away. From the moment you step inside, it feels like a cozy, one-of-a-kind cabin. Nearly 95% of the wood planks are original and sourced from the nearby Kaibab National Forest—you can even spot the stamps on some. With the Coconino National Forest just steps away, exploring the outdoors is part of the experience, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The main entrance to the home is through the back door, as the front features an Arcadia door. You’ll first step into a furnished, screened-in porch—one of our favorite spots on warm summer evenings to enjoy the cool air without the company of bugs. From there, a second door leads into the mudroom, a convenient place to leave shoes or gear after a day exploring the Verde Valley.
The main living area showcases original pine hardwood floors made from Kaibab National Forest lumber, harvested in the 1970s. The lighter boards were thoughtfully replaced by us as one of our many DIY projects. This cozy space includes a sofa that converts to a queen bed, a 55” TV, fireplace, dining table, and a comfortable reading nook.
Just off the main room is a galley kitchen stocked with essentials for preparing meals, and beyond it, the home’s single bathroom with a stand-up shower. Also on the first floor is a snug bedroom with a double-size mattress—compact yet carefully arranged for restful nights, with white walls and a wall-length mirror creating a calm, welcoming retreat.
A spiral staircase leads upstairs to a second reading nook, a smaller pull-out couch, and a bedroom with a queen-size bed, offering additional space to relax and unwind.
